Craftier

I have never been artistic or remotely creative. My abilities have only ever extended as far as crocheting and even that was only because I am good at small, repetitive tasks mixed thoroughly with an unhealthy dose of perfectionism. Just ask my mom about my ability to pick wallpaper. Or the aptitude test I took in school that told me I should be a factory worker. So for me to even have the desire is commendable. And oh do I have an itch to scratch.

What I have attempted lately has been very easy, but looks more amazing than I really am. Last minute I decided to create this for my miracle twin cousins who just turned 1! Because if I am not rushing with a deadline looming, then there is no sense in doing it.

I figured it would be fun to celebrate every inch of our miracle babies. We all love them so much and wished and prayed, and wished and prayed, and wished and prayed some more for them to be a part of our family. Now their parents can mark their growth.

I was able to do this with a little wood, paint, stickers, mod podge, and couple hours of time. It only took that long because of dry time. What's strange is how fulfilled I am with these little projects. Yet with each completion, my craving to do more gets stronger. Maybe it's the paint fumes.

Crafty

I've been feeling a little crafty. With Scott working so late and so often, I find myself twiddling my thumbs. So here's a project I completed. It may not be a good thing that I feel the need to tell you it's a wreath.
Please forgive my cell phone pics and the strange man in there.
I would tell you how I accomplished this, but why should I when I can just do this? Besides, I wouldn't want to take credit, I am not that crafty.

I Love the Way

Hunter, I love the way...

Your eyebrows glue to your hairline in excitement.
You know the details of every dragon.
You coo an entire conversation with Coopster.
You sing when you think no one is listening.
You bring me tissues when I'm sad.
Your feet sound when they hit the hardwood first thing in the morning.
You love to help me cook.
You wear your Batman cape backwards.
You kiss with your lips turned inside out.
You wear your Daddy's hats.
Your cheeks turn red for no reason.
You put your nose on mine when we sing your bedtime song.
You sneaky walk.
You are best friends with everyone you see.
You speak Klingon.

Coop, I love the way...

You meow when you cry.
You wrinkle your forehead in an attempt to hold up your head.
Your toes curl around my upper lip.
You never bend your knees.
You love your soft soft and can rub it on your face.
You talk in your sleep.
You warn me with your cough cry.
You hide in my neck.
You grunt when you want your bink.
You raise your eyebrow when I act like a goon.
Your red hair sticks out like a dandelion.
You're so happy in just a diaper.
You already know when I leave a room.
You hold my hair like handles.
You've bonded with your brother.
You save your best smiles for your morning meal.

Things that Made Me Smile Today

Bums sticking out.

Zippleback dragons.

Toes.

Hiding toes.

If I were a Girl

"Mommy, if I were a girl, I would have long hair like you. But I'm just a boy, so never mind."

Schroeder

My dad has always thought, and many have agreed, that due to the size and shape of Hunter's head, that he looks likes striking like Schroeder from Peanuts. I don't see it, but you be the judge.

So when we attended a pumpkin pick this past fall, I was thrilled to see the props they had accompanying the Great Pumpkin movie that was playing. We could have a fair comparison!

He even got to pretend to be Snoopy and Lucy. I think Karen would agree he gave her some very valuable advise.

What do you all think? Does he look like Schroeder? Lucy? Snoopy?

Candy Cane Hunt

It was a horrendously frigid day. Toes were frozen, mittens were wet, and noses ran. But it was absolutely worth it. It was so much fun. I have never seen Hunter with such excitement and pure glee. It was a candy cane hunt and we will return every year they do it.

After we collected candy canes, Santa and Mrs. Clause came to visit. Hunter's feet were bouncing, he was so excited. I'm sure many of you can picture it as you see have seen him do it many times.

His face was about to crack. Whether from the cold or his constant enormous smile, I am not sure.

He was very serious while telling Santa everything he wanted. I don't think he actually understood a word that came out of Hunter's mouth, but it was a success anyway.
We even got a decent picture of Hunter. It is a rarity because he just won't hold still. I guess it takes Santa to accomplish this. Do you think he will come to every photo opt to help a mom out?

Blessing Day

We blessed our new little one, Cooper, on Sunday. It was lots of fun and we appreciate that so many were able to work it into their schedules. Here are some pics of our little family. As you can see, it's not easy to get a good one of all of us together, so between 2 or 3, hopefully you can get an idea of what we all look like.

And a few of the star of the show. He was not having it by this point and just wanted a nap.

You can see the adorable outfit that my mother-in-law made from scratch, yes I said scratch. It was very warm and very handsome.

This shows he's in strong need of a snooze. Yawning pictures are some of my favorite, hopefully it doesn't frighten you.

His poor little infected eye, he had a little cold but is doing much better. Although it does make him look more like my baby pics.

It's amazing how our family has grown exponentially busy with this little guy. I have many more pics to share of him. Hopefully I can finesse blogspot to allow me to upload the montage of his birth day. Blogger and I aren't really friends.

Evolution of a Snowman

Ok, I am aware that my blog has somewhat died. Alright, it completely died, but I am ok with it because I believe in resurrection. So I am going to attempt to catch up on the events of last year now that my body is once again my own. Spending my days hurling and sleeping doesn't allow much time for blogging. Are you enjoying my justification? So please don't judge me that my posts will be completely out of order and somewhat random.

Here are the events of this morning. Hunter has been wanting to make a snowman all winter. But with Scott working two jobs, it's been difficult to organize him being home with snow on the ground. So today was the day. The snow was not optimal for snowman making, but we had to do it. Who knows how many more storms there will be?

Obviously I didn't get a picture, but the Midvale hook and ladder truck drove down the street during the build. When given the international sign for honk your horn, the firefighters obliged and Hunter was thrilled. It's not often you see the hinged ladder trucks, we're lucky to have one.

I stayed inside where it was nice and warm and took pictures through the window. That's the perk of being the mom and having a two month old with you. After a while, I heard a knock at the door. There was a very cute, very cold little boy asking for a carrot. Which makes sense, no snowman is complete without one.

Hunter was very proud when it was done. He even named his snowman, yep you guessed it, Hunter. He also wanted to make Mommy, Daddy, and Cooper snowmen, but I think this was enough for now.
